Nice to see silicon publicising freecycle - I use it a lot, mostly to give, but occasionally to take. To be realistic, there ARE frustrations, the technology is awful - no easy way to see what is still on offer, what has gone. You have to try and match up offered and taken notices - near impossible. You can get spam, so use a dedicated email address. Some people don't turn up to collect or aren't in when you go round.

But overall, a brilliant idea and well worth getting involved. You meet some really nice and interesting people, you avoid landfill and waste, and people who really need to, benefit.

Some people get upset if they think stuff they give away is resold e.g. at car boot sales. But so what? You didn't want it, it finds a good home with someone who does, and it avoids dumping it. So what if someone makes a little bit as a middle man? You couldn't be bothered to sell it and it's giving some income to somebody who might otherwise be tempted to less legal ways of making money.
