Interesting that the record companies aren't mentioning this isn't it?

They're quick enough to shout about the £650M "stolen" by freeloading P2P pirates, but not a mutter about the duplicate taxation that they are "stealing" in Europe.

Personally I've always felt that levying a public tax to give to private enterprise was pretty dubious, but that just shows how much power these multi-national media companies have and how scared governments are of them - take the DMCA a corporate sponsored piece of US legislation if ever there was one.

All I can suggest is only by records from independant labels and unsigned bands. That way your money funds creativity not fat cats.
