Online travel agent ebookers has announced it is joining the Nectar card scheme - enabling its customers to take advantage of the UK's largest loyalty card programme.

ebookers joins the likes of Barclaycard, Bottoms Up, BP, Debenhams, Sainsbury's and Vodafone on the loyalty reward scheme, which gives shoppers points every time they make a purchase and allows them to redeem them at a later date against goods or in part payment.

Chris Sherlock, head of the Nectar project at ebookers, said: "ebookers is delighted to be joining Nectar. Under the programme we will deliver a range of exciting Nectar point collection opportunities across all our UK brands. For Nectar collectors this now means they can collect Nectar points every time they book a flight, hotel or rental car through ebookers."

Half of UK homes now have a Nectar card.

Sherlock added: "With its far-reaching distribution Nectar will play an important part in ebookers' ongoing marketing strategy, helping to acquire new customers in our key UK market and further developing our brand."

Richard Campbell, marketing director at Loyalty Management UK, which operates the Nectar programme, said: "Although Nectar points can be collected at over 6,000 retail locations across the UK, we are also looking to boost our online offering."
