'Life begins...' with a hilarious prank for the Amazon boss...
Published: 13 January 2004 08:50 GMT
Jeff Bezos may have achieved more in 40 years than most manage in a lifetime, but it appears he's still not too rich or powerful to enjoy a jolly jape with his colleagues.
Bezos was yesterday celebrating his 40th birthday and pranksters within the happy Amazon family celebrated the occasion by posting a picture of Bezos, dressed as International Man of Mystery, Austin Powers on the Amazon.com website.
The picture shows the Amazon CEO, dressed for Halloween in blue crushed velvet suit, cravate and comedy horn rim specs (which at least makes a change from blue shirt and chinos).
And the hilarity doesn't end there. Anybody hoping to find the picture has to type the words 'Old Fart' into Amazon's search box to reveal it.
An Amazon representative said some web developers put up the page in honour of Bezos' birthday. The insider added that it is "a pretty fun joke."
You probably had to be there.
