The Strife of Brian: It's what the internet was made for...

By Will Sturgeon

Anybody who followed the saga of Claire Swire, whose highly personal email became a matter of national debate two years ago, will soon have two new names to add to the list of accidental heroes created in the internet age.

The love lives of two people, we'll call them Brian and Sarah (for those are their names) have been shared with members of a Watford FC message board and now the rest of the world seems to be joining in, with postings from as far a field as Australia and the US.

The story began on 10 July 2002 when Sarah spilled the beans on her wayward, now ex, beau Brian's infidelity. Rumour has it Brian went to Greece and brought Sarah back something far worse than the traditional bottle of ouzo. Without going into too much detail, antibiotics won't clear it up, but she has got some medication.

Sarah's allegations sparked mass interest in the site and thousands of posters have been logging in to catch up on the latest developments.

Followers of the whole story will know that Brian and his mate Pete went to Greece where Brian caught a virus from an unknown source - some say it was unsanitary drinking water, others suggest it was from a one night stand while others suggest a goat may have been involved.

One thing's for sure though - Emma in the local Boots should probably also be getting herself down the doctors. Sarah alleges that Brian wasn't just playing away from home while he was away from home.
