eBay is to auction a range of Star Trek related merchandise, from Captain Kirk's command chair to the tips of Dr Spock's ears.

A collection of some 1,000 pieces of sci-fi memorabilia from the collection of Star Trek associate producer Bob Justman is being auctioned on the site.

The items include everything from Uhura's transmission console to weapons, accessories, two of the small furry aliens known as Tribbles and even an item listed as 'Klingon pants'.

Props from other sci-fi classics, including Mars Attacks and the 2001 remake of Planet of the Apes.

The auction is being hosted by specialist auction house Profiles in History, which is charging a 15 to 18 per cent commission on the items.

Bids for Kirk's chair are currently at $80,000.
