Abbey National is to launch an internet funds supermarket today.

It will be the first high street bank to make such a move.

The FundsCentre service aims to attract £250m of assets under management by next year, according to today's Financial Times.

It will offer a range of around 280 funds from 24 fund managers, and is aimed at self-directed investors who want to buy such products as ISAs and unit trusts online.
