E-tailers are raising their prices for Christmas in an attempt to take advantage of pre-Christmas consumer spending.
According to the Goldfish E-tail Price Index, online prices have risen by 5.3 per cent in the last year - double the annual rate of inflation.
The research predicts consumers will spend over £2bn on gifts online this Christmas, six times more than last year.
The Goldfish E-tail Price Index was launched in July 2000 to follow the prices of 1,500 products at over 150 e-tailers. The research is carried out by Datamonitor.
