Flight simulator taken off the shelves

An online e-tailer has joined high street retailers in taking Microsoft's Flight Simulator program off the shelves in response to perceived links to the US terror attacks.

WHSmith.co.uk has now joined Virgin Megastores in saying it has already stopped stocking the game.

The game, which features realistic flight simulations in both New York and Washington, has been linked in the press to the atrocities in the US.

Some have claimed the game, which costs as little as £45 from some retailers, could have been used to train the hijackers to fly in preparation for the suicide attacks.

Microsoft is still supplying the simulator, but said it felt any further comment would be inappropriate and insensitive at this time.
