Web targets kids' $60bn allowance

Are there any morals still lying around?

Businesses are looking to target the $60bn pocket money of young net surfers in the US and Europe.

A survey reports marketers will increasingly and controversially focus on web savvy kids - whose net surfing population is likely to grow from 65m to almost 95m by 2006, with an increased combined spending force of $200bn.

The research from Datamonitor also reported boys seek novelty and entertainment sites, whereas girls enjoy fulfilling goals and prefer to join internet communities.

Both sexes prefer to find websites that support their interests, and avoid generic teen-oriented websites.
