Most car drivers are shying away from buying their cars online according to a study by GKF.
Most consumers questioned in the survey by the market research company said they would not buy a new car online and only 20 per cent of car drivers actually use the net with the intention of purchasing a car.
Trust in online payments is still a major stumbling block - especially for expensive items such as cars - and those respondents who are prepared to look for cars online said they would rather order a vehicle online and complete payment and delivery transactions face-to-face with a dealer.
The study also revealed that most consumer activity on car e-tail sites was to compare prices, though consumers admitted that discount prices could encourage them to buy.
