Web software and services company, Bright Station, has taken the wraps off a search engine developed by technology sifted from the ashes of boo.com.
The WebCheck tool sits on the desktop and lets users search on any amount of text and click for related information. The search results are then categorised and indexed.
WebCheck's search capabilities were boosted by the acquisition of boo.com's hardware for £900,000. Bright Station paid £250,000 for the original software and rescued 45 of the fallen e-tailer's 60 technical staff.
The software uses a similar searching technique to Autonomy's Genjin tool.
