Dialog opts for pay-per-view

By Suzanna Kerridge

Published: 5 October 1999 18:29 BST

Online information group Dialog is to make the business content of some of its databases available over the Web on a pay-per-view basis.

As part of a deal with Netscape, Dialog's business, science and technology information will be available through Netscape's Netcenter portal. The service will be customisable to offer data from magazines, newspapers, and news wires on areas such as chemistry, engineering, medicine and pharmaceuticals.

According to Dialog, there will be no subscription or search fees. Only once the information is found and the user decides to buy it is the transaction carried out.
