Advertising agency, Leagas Delaney has upgraded its ISDN network to JPY's ISDNShare 2.0 to connect its five international offices.
Leagas Delaney was an existing JPY customer, using the company's technology to link its London headquarters with satellite offices in Barcelona, Paris, Rome, and San Francisco. However, Dusty McSheffrey, IT director at the company, said version 2.0 - out today - offers additional benefits.
"We're upgrading to the IP [Internet Protocol] version of ISDNShare because of the cost savings that IP can offer over long distances," he told Silcon.com.
ISDNShare creates a virtual private network (VPN) based on a 3Com router that is specifically coded to 'spoof' AppleTalk. It allows calls to be automatically disconnected when the file transfer has been completed, instead of effectively having an open network connection, according to JPY.
The agency - whose clients include Adidas, the BBC, and Harrods - also subscribes to Vio, the high-speed BT/Scitex managed network for a point-to-point connection between its London office and various reprographic houses. But Leagas Delaney said ISDNShare provides it with a low-cost ISDN network for an efficient link between the Apple-based networks in its five offices.
