Oracle and Silicon Graphics (SGI) will launch a joint product on Friday designed to deliver interactive TV to cable and satellite subscribers. Oracle developed the software and SGI will provide the hardware for the system.
The companies say the service will vary slightly from country to country, but basic functions include video-on-demand, email through the TV and betting via the remote control.
