The first test flight of Boeing's first new plane for 16 years was shown live on the Internet on Sunday. The 757-300, a derivative of the 757-200, took off from Renton Municipal Airport in Washington state for a two hour twenty-five minute flight.
Craig Martin, director of communications at Boeing said: "We had over 3,000 live viewers with a further 7,000 viewing the Webcast during the day of the event." He explained that everyone involved, from the employees to the suppliers, had the opportunity to see the end product. He added: "This technology will become part of standard communications planning in the future."
During the flight, Captain Leon Robert explained that at 15,000 feet everything in the plane felt normal and said: "It feels great."
