NCR Corporation's pre-tax income has leapt from $2m (£1.2m) in 1997 to $92m (£56m) for the second quarter ended June 30 1998. The company also posted $23m (£14m) in income for the same quarter.
The company attributed the change to improvements in operating income and continued expense discipline. Net income showed a $48m (£29.3m) profit compared to a $4m (£2.4m) loss the year before. Q2 revenue was $1.6bn (£0.97bn), a decline of 4 per cent compared to $1.7bn (£1bn) reported in 1997.
