Surely scrap metal prices have now collapsed?
I thought that the worldwide recession had ended the speculation which had increased raw material & scrap metal prices?
Perhaps the continuing media reports serve mostly to encourage criminals to steal metal?
Even at the prices quoted in this article, the amount gained by criminals is very petty - especially when compared with the immense disruption and the high replacement cost.
It would be helpful if the mainstream media portrayed such thefts & stealing lead from church roofs as the mean, petty crimes that they are; rather than appearing to laud them as a good way to make easy money.
