Certainly technology won't solve the global warming problem - but neither will voluntary action whether individual or corporate. Though some actions save money AND reduce emissions these will not be enough.
We will have to spend money to cut our greenhouse gas emissions and no company will increase its own costs if its competitors are free to keep theirs down. Therefore there will have to be international regulation of emissions.
And the later we leave it the more severe the regulations will have to be.
