When will these companies ever learn. They should be doing the opposite. Trying to spin-off their profitable smaller units as organisations in their own right and operating more as a franchise. The smaller units retain the majority of their profits but pay at stipend to the parent organisation.
If you want a suitable analogy think Dinosaurs (Large, cold blooded) Mammals (Small, warm blooded) and the Ice Age is just around the corner.
