BT has announced it is to sell its satellite broadcast operations to Arqiva for a £25m price tag.

Arqiva will take over BT's satellite broadcast services, including BT's contracts, operations and staff based in France, Italy, the Netherlands, Britain and the US.

BT's satellite arm is part of the telco's Global Services unit. It provides both full-use and occasional-use communications satellites. Arqiva will take over the full-time satellites while BT will retain the occasional-use ones.

Earlier this week, the telco was more focused on buyouts than sell-offs. Yesterday, BT announced it had made an offer to acquire Sheffield-based ISP PlusNet. It also acquired Counterpane Security in October and earlier this year it snapped up Dabs.com.
