BT has landed another large managed services contract outside the UK.
California-based Jacobs Engineering Group has chosen the telco to handle its LAN, WAN, remote access, mobile and PBX needs.
The financial value of the multi-year deal has not been disclosed but it covers 250 sites across 30 countries. A similar contract landed at Bristol-Myers Squibb at the start of the year was thought to be worth around $2bn, ranking alongside mega-deals with closer-to-home multinationals such as Reuters and Unilever.
Like many former state telcos, BT used to have a reputation for strength mainly in its domestic market but that has gradually changed, starting with deals in continental Europe.
Michelle Miller, Jacobs' CIO, spoke of BT's "technical expertise and true global reach" in a statement.
