Cable & Wireless inks £6m deal with Powergen parent

Cable and Wireless has inked a £6m, three-year deal with E.ON UK, parent of energy company Powergen, to consolidate E.ON UK's incoming call centre traffic.

E.ON has cut the number of its suppliers from three to just one - C&W - and will trim 30 per cent off its bills as a result, the company said. Seven calls centres across the UK will be integrated onto a single network.

C&W is now E.ON's primary communications contractor and preferred provider of inbound call services.

The £6m deal follows on from a recent win - in conjunction with EDS - with Scottish Courage, to provide the brewery with a new IP VPN system, and a deal with Volkswagen UK for a new WAN.
