BT has won a seven-year €27.5m deal to manage IT and communications at Nordic packing group Superfos.

The latest contract - it is one of a number of deals have been announced by the former UK state telco in the past 18 months - links together 22 locations across 14 European countries using BT's MPLS networking technology for IP connectivity.

On the IT side, BT will look after desktops and servers including high-end A/S 400 boxes as well as managing applications, according to a statement by the companies.

BT will also be charged with IT consolidation - something it would rarely have been considered for, even three or four years ago - as well as fixed and mobile voice services.

Figures out last week from researchers at IDC placed BT at a surprise sixth place in Western European IT services for 2003, ranking above established players such as Siemens Business Services and CSC.
