German phone carrier Deutsche Telekom's IT services arm T-Systems has won a five-year outsourcing deal believed to be worth 1.3bn from Deutsche Post.
A spokesman for T-Systems would not comment on the specifics of the deal but the new agreement is an extension of an existing contract signed five years ago.
According to reports, T-Systems will maintain and support around 55,000 desktops for the German postal service along with other IT and communications services included in the package.
T-Systems is the IT services arm of Deutsche Telekom and other customers include DaimlerChrysler and WestLB.
Deutsche Telekom was one of the first telco do go down this route but others, including BT, have since followed suit.
