UK virtual network operator Vanco has won a €4.3m deal to integrate multiple MPLS infrastructures into a single global seamless network for German electronics giant Siemens.
The three-year deal will see Vanco integrate MPLS (multi protocol label switching) infrastructure into a network connecting 417,000 Siemens employees across 1,600 locations worldwide.
The wide-reaching global network will cover locations as diverse as Australia and Zaire and Afghanistan and Zimbabwe - taking in places such as Angola, Ecuador, Germany, Iran, Panama and Russia along the way.
Axel-Rene Schib, vice president CIO infrastructure at Siemens, said it was the flexibility and cost effectiveness of the MPLS-based network, coupled with the vendor-agnostic approach of the virtual network operator which swung it for Vanco.
Vanco will also police the 'best-of-breed' service providers which make up its virtual network in order to ensure SLAs are met.
