Marconi cashes in on Siemens

It's a drop in the ocean, but it's something...

Marconi has sold a 21.5 per cent stake in Siemens Telecommunications for £20m.

The move marks an attempt to reduce its debt mountain and is in line with its strategy of jettisoning non-core assets.

Before Marconi ploughed ahead with its transformation into a fully-fledged telecoms equipment provider, and before the name change from GEC, the company and Siemens were the co-owners of telecoms venture GPT.
