France Telecom is hoping to join the ranks of free ISPs, according to the Wall Street Journal.
It has applied to French telecom regulators for permission to offer a service that drops the current 75FF (£7.50) monthly fee and offer a service that will cost 28 centimes (3p) per minute in call charges.
The move will allow the telco to compete with the free ISPs that have been cropping up in France since April.
