Energis has won the 1999 Telecommunication Managers Association (TMA) award for services to business customers.
The chairman's award recognises telecoms companies for quality, value for money and innovation. TMA members rate service providers in 31 areas, including account management, query resolution, pricing and expertise of staff.
An Energis spokeswoman said: "We're absolutely thrilled that we've been recognised by our customers - a large majority of which are TMA members. We did extremely well in all areas, which I understand is unusual."
A spokesman for the TMA added: "It's an important award because the TMA's membership - all of whom spend at least £500,000 per annum on telecoms - provide feedback on quality. You don't get a much more difficult and discerning a group than telecoms professionals."
Former winners include BT, WorldCom and Colt.
