And keep it to themselves

With 70 per cent of Europe now packing camera phones, the World Cup could be the most photographed sporting event in history.

According to mobile device management company SmartTrust, 4.5 million pictures of the games will be taken using spectators' phones during the Cup - an average of around six pictures per camera phone user.

However, according to research by the firm, very few footie fans will send their snaps to the armchair supporters back home - less than one million of the pictures will ever become MMSes, the research found.

Around one quarter of UK mobile phone subscribers now use photo messaging, according to research firm M:Metrics.
