Comment

Nokia’s decision makes sense, and certainly doesn’t mean that the company is abandoning its mobility efforts. Partnering with mobility heavyweights will help the company make greater inroads into the market, though it should be pointed out that simply stepping up its relationship with Microsoft won’t be enough to succeed. More and more end-user organisations are now looking beyond basic messaging to try and equip their field sales and service workers with a proper set of business tools. If Nokia doesn’t want to miss out on this action, it needs to forge relationships with firms that can deliver enterprise class mobile applications to Nokia devices rather than just email access.
