I'm a big Apple fan, but feel both over- and underwhelmed by the iPhone. There's lots there, and lots of potential, but too many of the basic functions feel like they weren't thought through. Want to use it as a modem via Bluetooth? You can't. Want to send a contact via SMS? You can't. Want to send an MMS? You can't. I think the adverts which emphasise the browsing, email, maps and App goodies, and then mention at the end that it's also a mobile phone probably replicate the thinking process during development. It is a marvellous mobile computing platform, with a phone tacked on almost as an afterthought.

I'd prefer to start with the basics done right...
