Why would I want to buy a phone from a company that lock me into one mobile service provider, in a deal that in effect means that I'm not sure if I will ever be able to switch to another provider without bricking the phone that I have paid a lot of money for. Who also won't inform me what problems patches fix. I understand that according to Apple everything they make always works and has no security issues, but this apparantly is clearly not the case. M$oft and Apple both seem to treat people with equal contempt.
