Personally I am not suprised that the panel decided that they would not be adopting the iPhone.
In a market in the UK that allows us to choose a service provider for our phones and also (in a lot of cases) get a handset for free in return for signing up for a contract, I am amazed at the sheer arrogance of Apple in thinking that they can not only charge a great deal of money for a phone that is inferior to other offerings but also to force us to use a single provider purely so they can get a kick-back for on each purchase from the service provider.
Just because it is the way it works in the US (where a lot of phones are locked to a service provider) does not mean they can do it in the UK. This shows a complete lack of understanding of our market or, as another commenter suggested, maybe Apple are not really interested in the business market.
