Are UK providers scared by crazy regulations?

Some time ago, I investigated providing WiFi to our holiday cottages but became concerned about the crazy regulations which could make us liable for the actions of WiFi users.

I was also concerned about how to provide any "tech." or "configuration" support to our guests.

I'd have liked to provide the WiFi as a "free" incentive just like we provide a "games room," washing machine, payphone & colour TVs. (Only four channels in this remote, hilly area! Also, very poor mobile reception.)

Sadly, it looked like too much trouble, especially as crazy UK regulations would have made us criminally liable for any use of the WiFi access.

That seemed to mean that we'd have to impose encryption & administer passwords.

Like so many aspects of the UK, tabloid paranoid and crazy government regulations stunt progress.
