Don't panic! It seems so many people are worried about what are almost non existent threats. OK so things do happen and are reported ad nauseum in the press but the actual risks of abduction etc.. are so low. It's all about fear and nothing drives sales, except perhaps sex, than worrying about what might happen.

And what is the plan of action if the 'emergency' does occur? - "Dad I've been run over..." or “Mum I’ve been kidnapped…” or even “My phone’s been nicked (??)” Basically it’s too late.

In fact, children are far better off without mobile phones as they increase the risks: such as not paying attention crossing the road; phones getting nicked; and bullying via mobiles
