Just for the record, I'm on O2 and have absoloutely ZERo expectation of 'near instant' delivery of SMS messages.

It seems that it's OK if you phone is in service when the message is sent, but if not then it can days before the network seems to notice that you are available to receive it ! Even switching the phone off and back on so that it re-registers on the network does not help delivery of messages.

Why are we so fascinated by a service that gives no guarantee of delivery, no guarantee of delivery times, and does not even tell you if the message could not be delivered at all ?
