Orange unveils iPhone tariffs and launch date

The iPhone 3G and 3G S will go on sale to Orange customers from 10 November, the operator has revealed today.

Orange has also unveiled its pay monthly, pay-as-you-go and business tariffs for iPhone 3G and 3G S - with the cheapest price plan offering consumers a free iPhone 3G for just under £30 per month on a two-year contract.

Back in September Apple announced it was ending its exclusive contract to sell iPhones with O2 UK, with first Orange and then Vodafone getting passes to join the iPhone party.

The iPhone 3G S is available to business users on the Orange network for £30 per month on a two-year contract, with a 16GB device costing £87. The cheapest consumer tariff for the 3G S is around £30 per month with the device costing £125. Business users can get a free 3G S on a £40 per month contract, while consumers will have to shell out around £44 per month to get a free device.

Retail outlets that will stock the device include all 402 UK Orange shops, along with the operator's website and HMV concessions, plus mobile retailers Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4U. Selected Orange stores will extend their opening hours to accommodate demand, the operator added.

A pay-as-you-go iPhone 3G is priced at £343, while the 3G S costs £440 or £539, depending on price plan. 'Unlimited' wi-fi is offered on all price plans, subject to the operator's 'Fair Usage policy' of 750MB per month. iPhone tethering bundles start at an additional £5 per month. Orange now offers the iPhone in 28 countries and territories worldwide, the operator added.
