1Gbps mobiles get closer with €18m funding boost

LTE Advanced comes in for EU research grant

The EU has announced millions of euros of funding for a next-generation mobile standard.

The European Union is to put €18m into the development of LTE Advanced. LTE Advanced is a proposed evolution of LTE, the mobile standard expected to follow the 3G used today.
