silicon.com readers say they will have no problem putting down their BlackBerrys and getting on with the sunbathing this summer.

In our poll of more than 230 silicon.com readers, almost two thirds said they would leave their voicemail and email at the office while on holiday.

Sadly a sizeable number (about a third) of readers said they either have to or like to check in with work during their break. That's excluding the five per cent of stressed out and overworked tech workers for who the whole idea of a holiday was a foreign concept.

The poll comes as more than a quarter of the 300 London workers surveyed by IT security company Credant Technologies said they check their emails daily during their holidays, with 14 per cent admitting they do so more than once per day.

Only 40 per cent were able to resist the temptation to email the office during their time off.

While the third of workers taking their laptop on holiday could be risking security, with a fifth failing to secure their laptops with a password and 68 per cent not encrypting them.
