The Grampian Fire and Rescue Service link network provides communications to six full-time and 33 part-time fire stations across the North East of Scotland, covering an area of 9,600 square kilometres.

The network includes a wide-area paging system, which the service believes will prove useful in the more remote areas covered by the Fire Service.

The network is routed through the service's headquarters in Aberdeen where Arqiva and fire service engineers can maintain and monitor the system.

Arqiva will also provide outsourced support for fire service engineers to contact when problems occur.

Mike Clark, communications and IT manager at Grampian Fire and Rescue Service, said the fact Arqiva engineers are based locally has reassured the service that it will receive consistent support.
