A word from our sponsor...
It has been quite a year for Vodafone and McLaren Mercedes. In the field of ICT, Vodafone UK has been forging a new path for mobile operators in the UK with the launch of a raft of new mobility solutions and professional services.
On the F1 track, we have all seen Vodafone McLaren Mercedes trail blaze its way to the top of the constructors championship, a performance embodied by the remarkable feats of Lewis Hamilton in his debut season. Now that the two have come together to form the formidable Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team, it is natural to expect that the two entities share the same values of speed, flexibility, streamlined performance and team work.
Speed and flexibility
Building on the capability of its super-fast 3G broadband network, in June this year Vodafone UK launched Vodafone Secure Remote Access - a new service that enables remote workers with laptops or desktop PCs to connect securely to their office computer systems via one simple user interface and from multiple worldwide access technologies, including Mobile Broadband, fixed dial-up and ISDN, public and private wi-fi, hotel broadband and home broadband.
But of course pure speed and increased access options aren't everything. Vodafone Secure Remote Access is a flexible tool that puts control firmly in the hand of the IT manager - in short, an integrated, policy-driven solution to the complex challenge of providing secure network access for remote workers in any kind medium and large-sized organisation.
Streamlined performance
Like any F1 team with the ambition to succeed, Vodafone has found that its own customers are constantly striving for streamlined processes, time savings and increased efficiencies. In March this year it responded with the Vodafone Applications Service, a new offering that mobilises enterprise applications (including Salesforce.com, Oracle, SAP, Siebel and Remedy) onto mobile smart devices to achieve just that. The full service includes pre-sales consultancy, delivery and integration as well as support for the entire solution which can comprise any combination of devices, network, middleware and the customer's enterprise application.
Teamwork
Teamwork is as important to Vodafone's new vision for ICT mobility services as it has always been to McLaren Mercedes in the pit lane. Both Vodafone Secure Remote Access and the Vodafone Applications Service are being supported and implemented by Enterprise Mobility Solutions, a newly created team of people with Vodafone UK that works closely with customers to understand the business drivers behind their needs and delivers solutions that include business consulting, technology, infrastructure and a managed support framework.
Enterprise Mobility Solutions is the engine that drives Vodafone's new approach to the market. Building on the company's unique heritage and experience in mobile communications, it has established a team that can add value and, above all, inspiration.
