K is for South Korea

South Korea has become one of the most advanced nations on Earth where it comes to embracing wireless technology, with widespread high-speed wi-fi in the major cities and a thriving software industry.

The government is playing a key role in this enthusiasm, and is investing heavily in various technologies. The state is driving development of wi-fi internet access, setting up a national programme aimed at making 100Mbps the minimum internet speed standard. In 2005 the country rolled out a version of Linux to support 10,000 of its schools.
