Camelot is to let punters buy their tickets from their mobile, in a details-to-be-announced deal with the UK's major operators.
A Camelot spokesman said: "Details are sketchy at the moment but the service will be announced in the autumn. We are in discussions with the operators. Tesco will also be trialling a system to sell lottery tickets at supermarket checkouts."
During the past year, the lottery operator has finally seen ticket sales rise for the first time since 1998. In the year to the end of March, Camelot sold an extra £40m worth of tickets, bringing the year's takings to £4.6bn.
The company is in talks with what it sees as all the major operators: Vodafone, Orange, O2, T-Mobile, 3, Virgin, Sainsbury's, OneTel, Fresh and Tesco.
Britons now spend £88m on lottery tickets every week.
