NTT DoCoMo has chosen London as the new base for its European headquarters and the hub of its planned promotion of i-mode and 3G services across the continent.

DoCoMo Europe will act as a holding company for its three other subsidiaries in Europe. It will take charge of public relations for the region and provide technical support for the company's partners.

Kunihiko Adachi, former president of NTT DoCoMo Tokai, will become managing director of the new European headquarters when it opens in September.

The Japanese mobile operator is the creator of the W-CDMA wireless standard.
