Orange customers across the country are this morning experiencing problems making and receiving phone calls due to network problems.

The mobile phone operator said that only a small number of customers are affected by the outage. The problem is not localised.

This morning the company issued an apology and a statement saying: "Our engineers and those of our network equipment supplier are working to establish the cause of the fault and will restore service as soon as possible."

As of 10:30(BST) the problem had not been resolved.
