Motorola splashes $260m on broadband buy-out

Motorola has bought fibre optic network firm Synchronous for $260m.

The all share deal is designed at increasing Motorola's presence in the broadband sector. Synchronous' systems are used for transmitting video and high-speed data - demand for which will be heightened by the roll-out of 3G mobile phone services.
