NTT DoCoMo claims it is on target to sign up 150,000 3G subscribers by March, despite only having sold 11,000 handsets.
The Japanese giant launched its 3G service - called Foma - one month ago, and claims the relatively lowly sales figures reached so far are in line with its expectations.
According to a report in the Financial Times, the telco has only sold handsets in Tokyo so far, but is now ready to expand distribution to other areas. That will help make up the apparent shortfall before the Spring.
