Debt-laden Finnish telco Sonera is planning to cut nearly 300 jobs in its mobile services businesses in a further attempt to cut costs.

Jobs will go at Sonera Zed, the mobile portal division and at SmartTrust which provides data security services. Sonera Zed has operations in Turkey, Holland and the US. All are likely to go.

Last week Sonera confirmed it was cutting down its 3G investments in Germany, Italy and Spain.
