Charles Dunstone, chief executive of Carphone Warehouse, was yesterday forced to deny his company was considering issuing a profits warning.

Dunstone said the retailer had nothing to say until it posts full results in November, according to the FT. He insisted trading was in line with expectations.

Carphone Warehouse shares rose 19 per cent in afternoon trading to close at 79.5, up from a year low of 65p.
